Following a very busy weekend of Coach Education, 4 new Athletics Coaches (Level 2) have been successful following a day of assessment at the Gulberwick Hall with Bernie Campbell from Scottishathletics. Charlotte Black, Janice Hamer, Carrie Morrison and Amy Harper have worked really hard over the past 3 months to gain this award and all did extremely well in the two assessed practical sessions and the planning discussion with Bernie. The Club can now boast 9 Level 2 Athletics Coaches and hopefully a 10th if Amy comes onboard. Well done all!
Please find attached the Shetland AAC Competition Calendar for 2018.
As you can see, we are in for a busy year!
I would ask that you all note the changes that have been made this year:
All sessions tomorrow (Friday 8th December) have been cancelled because of the extreme weather conditions we will be facing over the next few days. Louise's session in Sandwick on Saturday morning is also cancelled.
Stay safe everyone!
We have been lucky enough to secure a Coaching Assistant course to be delivered over two Sundays (3rd December, 21st January 2018) The course will be tutored by Bernie Campbell, who is well known to the Club and who delivers a great course.
We need more Coaching Assistants to work with our Athletics Coaches and to provide the best experience for our athletes. Our groups are quite large just now and we are aiming to reduce the Coach/Athlete ratio, giving our members more 1 to 1 coaching time.
Please follow the link below for more information on the Coaching Assistant award;
Here are the results from this weekends events. Congratulations to all athletes on your efforts!
A big thank you to Ruth Newbold and her team at T L Dallas for their continued support. It truly is appreciated.
For those who officiated, helped with teas, soups etc in the shed, a big thank you as well. These events can only run with the help of the volunteers. We are always looking for more folk to help out in any way; parent helpers, Assistant Coaches and the army of ofiicials, committee members and helpers that make us a family club.
Come along and see the athletes giving their best in the last competition of the season!
It would be appreciated if you could bring donations of homebakes etc to keep everyone fed and happy on the day(s) Please ask if you can help on the day. We aloways need volunteers to rake, tape, retrieve, time etc. You will always get to see your bairns!
We are a family club and we would love your help in any way!
Due to the ongoing remodelling of the access roads close to the track AND this weekends Ideal Homes Exhibition at Clickimin, parking will be at a premium.
It is advised that if you are bringing a vehicle on either day, you get to Clickimin early. Other options for parking would be the car parks at Hayfield, leaving just a short walk down to the track.
Please find entry forms and a timetable for the Under 9's and Under 11's competition. There is also a draft timetable for Under 13 and above competition.
Please ensure your entries are with Charlotte by the appropriate date!
